On July 1, 2024, the Research Institute for Post-Mining Landscapes was given new management. As a result of a public invitation to tender, Dr. Beate Zimmermann was appointed as the new Chairwoman of the Executive Board by the General Meeting.

Following her scientific training and research activities at the University of Potsdam and abroad, Dr. Zimmermann has been working at the FIB for 11 years. She is very familiar with the institution’s tasks and is also rooted in the region.

Dr. Zimmermann takes over the baton from Dr. Michael Haubold-Rosar, who has headed the institute since 2002. Dr. Haubold-Rosar will continue to support the FIB as a part-time research assistant in the coming months.
